Welcome to Planters Retreat Homestay

Set amidst a lush tropical plantation of cocoa, rubber and spice, Planters Retreat is a treasure trove for nature lovers, adventure seekers or for those simply looking for a quiet relaxing holiday.

Located near the hamlet of Kanhirapuzha, 40 km from the town of Palakkad in Kerala, the home stay is set in an exclusive locale, yet is easily accessible by road and rail from the cities of Kochi, Calicut and Coimbatore.

We, are a Syrian Christian family, our ancestors having settled here since the early 1940s, and have traditionally been farmers for several generations. We would love to have you come over, stay with us, experience our culture, traditions and cuisine and take back with you memories that you would cherish.

For Your Comfort

The three spacious air-conditioned bedrooms overlook the lush plantation with a view of the mountains in the background and the dam through the trees. The long verandas provide you with ample space, privacy and comfort to simply chill out for an afternoon siesta or a quiet read.

Speaking of reading, the library on the first floor has a rich collection of books to keep you company, especially if you plan to holiday during the monsoon. Board games, a video collection and digital TV ensure that there never is a dull moment during your holiday with us. Free Broadband Wi-Fi connectivity provides you internet access from the comfort of your bedroom. A mix of traditional home cooked meals and continental cuisine ensures that you can sample our cooking but at the same time still fall back on food that you are comfortable with. How about trying your hand at cooking some of those traditional dishes while you’re at it?

Things To Do

The home stay has quite a few activities to offer visiting travelers. A guided tour of the plantation will familiarize you with tropical spices, rubber, cocoa production and their primary processing. The 100 acre plantation has quite a few trails for you to explore by foot or bicycle.

Longer picnic treks can be arranged to our neighboring plantations overlooking the scenic Kanhirapuzha Dam.

The world famous Silent Valley National Park is located just an hour and a half away from Planters Retreat. Home to some of the most exotic tropical flora and fauna, there are Kerala Forest Department guided tours during the day for those interested in exploring one of the most beautiful paradises in God’s Own Country.

Also, an hour’s drive from the home stay is the breathtakingly beautiful Siruvani Dam. Located deep in the tropical forests of the Western Ghats, the Siruvani Dam offers breathtaking vistas of the plains of Tamil Nadu from the hill tops of Kerala.

Getting Here

Planters Retreat is located just 120 km from the Cochin International Airport, and the Kozhikode International Airport and Coimbatore Airport are only 90 km from the homestay.

Planters Retreat is also well connected by rail, with one of the most important railway stations in Kerala – the Palakkad Junction just 35 km away from the homestay.

Planters Retreat has excellent road connectivity from major cities in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, with the Palakkad – Kozhikode National Highway just 7 km from the homestay.
